Since I did not tell you anything about this lovely couple yesterday, today I want to start with their story.  The first time I sat down with Shay and Christopher – I could tell they were meant for one another.  I sat, sipping on my Chick-Fil-A diet lemonade, listening to them talk about how they met, hearing Shay say “I am so excited to be marrying my best friend” and hearing Christopher talk about the qualities in Shay that he had prayed for in a wife.  According to Christopher – everything about their relationship relates to a movie.  The first movie was You’ve Got Mail as their relationship started through a singles group on-line in 2007.  Shay knew pretty quickly that they had a lot in common – just by reading over his profile.  And once they began to exchange emails and learn more about each other, it was obvious that they were going to be great friends.  In June of that year, they decided to meet up for lunch and saw one another very regularly after that – for “friend dates.”  Over the 4th of July – Shay knew something was different when (in her own words): “I was getting lost in the crowd, when Christopher turned to me holding out his hand and said, “Friends can hold paws too.” He took my hand in his big strong hand and lead me through the crowd. That was the first time I thought, “I think I could really LIKE this guy.” It would be months before either one of us admitted this to one another.

In 2008 while visiting New Orleans, Christopher took Shay to Greenwood Plantation, the place where his grandparents had gotten engaged and later that day asked for her hand in marriage at Galtories Restaurant.  She said yes and over the next couple of years their relationship grew in depth.  They started a business together (which you will hear about tomorrow), read My Utmost for His Highest and the Bible daily and learned so much about who it was they had been waiting for.

On January 22nd, 2011 Shay and Christopher got married at Hyde Park Presbyterian Church where they attend Sunday school and the contemporary service weekly.   You might recognize this church from these three other weddings.

Before the ceremony, I had a few minutes with the groom and his men and the bride and her girls separately . . .

Coolest tux tails ever!  So classy.

Pastor Shick praying for their wedding day and their marriage.

And then, the ceremony.

Shay and Christopher hired a side shooter for a couple hours during the day and I was delighted to have the talented Rayma Jenkins at my side!  She captured this shot above of them leaving the church.  LOVE it!

See you tomorrow for part {3}: happily ever after.

First of all, Happy Valentine’s Day to Shay and Christopher, all of the newly weds, about-to-be weds and every couple out there celebrating being together today.  I hope it is a great one!

As you saw from their {teaser}, I am going to reveal Shay and Christopher’s beautiful wedding in three parts . . . today is mainly focused around the adorable children who were a part of their wedding, their beautiful flowers and Shay’s getting ready.  Enjoy this beaming groom and stunning bride and the people that they love.

Shay’s dress was gorgeously detailed.  I loved the lace.  Thanks to Miss Pam – the wedding coordinator at HPPC who helped me take it outside for some shots!

Shay and Christopher customized the little details of their wedding (which you will see throughout this week).  They and their wonderful family bought and arranged the flowers for the bouquets as well as the flower baskets and head pieces for the flower girls.  They were beautiful!

see you tomorrow morning for part {2}: “i do.”

Shay and Christopher got married on a cold January Saturday!  Here is their {teaser}.

I have decided to try something new in sharing their wedding with you.  Since, my wedding posts are getting longer and longer, I am going to break it up in to three days.  So check back Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday mornings of this week to see their wedding day unravel.  And – at the end of the series, let me know your thoughts – was the breaking it up a good idea or not so much?

“You are each other’s first loves” . . . said Ken Shick, father of the groom and pastor of Hyde Park Presbyterian Church where Casie and Jon were married.  Casie and Jon met the summer after freshman  year of college at Cedarkirk, a summer camp where they were both counselors.  They started dating then, which was the summer of 2003.  Their love grew over long distance, different schools, moving to Atlanta, moving home, spending summers at Cedarkirk, getting to know each other’s families, friends, personalities, and idiosyncrasies.  Casie and Jon fit the well known saying that “opposites attract.”  He is quiet, has a wry, intellectualized sense of humor and can sit back and let others (namely his beautiful bride) be the center of attention.  She is outgoing, loves to laugh at Jon’s funny comments, and shines when all eyes are on her.  They complement one another very beautifully.

You might remember them from Jon’s brother, Matt’s wedding back in  March, or from their amazing engagement session at Pier 60.

Their wedding day was early August.  It was ridiculously humid and somewhat rainy, which is supposedly good luck.  We made it outside for a few photos, but really didn’t spend too much time out there because of the humidity.  When I arrived to the church, the girls were seated on the floor of the bridal party, dressed in towels, eating lunch and laughing with the bride.   The boys arrived a little later, fully dressed, ready to go.  It is so special to be a part of a wedding where the pastor is also the father of the groom.  So fun, special and unique.

A few weeks before their wedding, Casie and Jon had to find another reception site because their original one went out of business.  You would have never known that the reception held at Ruth Eckerd Hall was their back up plan…it was simply perfect.

Hope that you enjoy  these images of this special wedding day.

Casie’s shoes and bridesmaids’ shoes were created by Britt Erekson of Busy Bea Shoes.  They were awesome!

The boys were great sports and headed outside for three minutes!

Such a unique idea to capture their ceremony!

On the way to their reception we briefly stopped for a few wedding party photos . . . as you can see, they traveled in style!

This was the most creative father-daughter dance I have ever seen.  They started out recapturing the 80s…amazing!

Best. Idea. Ever. . . Casie and Jon had a photo booth where guests could take pictures of themselves and then sign next to them in the guest book.

Of course they partook in the fun as well!

Jon’s aunt and cousin made their delicious cakes, aren’t they stunning?

Casie and Jon’s good friends, Betsy and Mark caught the bouquet and garder . . . so, guys, when’s your big day :)?

Special thanks to Kellie Hero Photography for being a great side shooter!

You were captivated by their wedding teaser (I had to put the photo on this post as well, see below).  And for a good reason.  Christina and Tony had a fairy-tale wedding that was so completely unique and picture perfect.  The ceremony took place at Hyde Park Presbyterian Church and then the party headed to the Victory Ship in Channelside.  Since I have kept you waiting for over a month now (and since I will be MIA for 1.5 weeks), I am going to post a whole lot of photos from their big day.

So . . . here we go:

Since they have a huge family, Christina and Tony decided to see each other before the ceremony.  So she got ready with the girls . . .

. . . and then headed out to see Tony for the first time.  Throughout the entire day, both Tony and Christina were incredibly calm, with the exception of this first meeting.  They were adorably nervous . . .
. . . until they finally turned around and got to see each other . . .

. . . and then it was back to their usual complete comfortableness with one another.

After taking a bunch of photos with the beautiful couple, I had some fun with the ladies.  I loved the classic navy blue dresses that went perfect with the reception site!

. . . we all met up for some group shots . . .

. . . and then it was the boys’ turn.

After hundreds of large family photos, it was time for their ceremony.  It was truly beautiful, full of music, scripture, prayer and song and complete with a kiss.

The reception site . . .

. . . was amazing!
The details were incredible (the left two above were from my amazing side-shooter, Kellie Hero!!)

We had some more fun with the wedding party . . .

. . . and then the party really started.

And the party went on, all night long!

Bon Voyage!

A HUGE thank you to Kellie Hero, an amazing side shooter.  Several of the images in the slideshow are hers.  Kellie- Thank YOU!  I cannot wait to shoot more events with you!
