thank you 2011

January 1, 2012

Oh my glee!  Looking back through the beautiful memories that have been written in front of my camera lens this year seriously {101} brings a huge smile to my face.  I feel like one of the luckiest people in the world to be able to have a {102} job that captures life, laughter and love.  As I close my {103} second “official” year in the photography business, I once again have to give thanks to God and to you: {104} each person who has entrusted their memories to my work, {105} each person who has come back to the blog time after time or {106} referred a friend to me – or just {107} has become a fan on facebook – THANK YOU for allowing me to do {108} this job that I love.

I look forward to continuing this journey with you in 2012.  Happy New Year!!

Sincerely,

Janie

PS… If you want to, check out 2010′s summary post - it’s really fun (for me at least) to look back.

PPS…wondering what the numbers in the {} are?  Last year I started a gratitude series that I have failed horrendously in keeping up – I posted about it one time this year – guh.  I am making {gratitude} my 2012 resolution because I really have a lot to be grateful for in my life.

That was seriously the best title I could think of when I was flipping through some photos in lightroom and found this one of MoJo. We dog-sat him over Easter weekend and I forgot that I had taken this shot. He’s a Renaissance Bulldog and a sweet, slobbery, funny guy.

I’ve been working a lot on some posts that cannot yet be shared (one is a bride who has yet to get married and another is a wedding that I’m waiting on). Thus, I feel like there’s been some silence from this end of the internet world.

I was thinking about gratitude the other day. I think Oprah’s final episode contributed to that. She talked about her gratitude for the experience of hosting her show for 25 years and referred to the gratitude journals that she had her viewers write. Obviously, Oprah has been on for most of my life and I have definitely watched several episodes but I was not a regular viewer and missed the segment about gratitude journals. I am not sure exactly what her task to viewers was, but I am assuming she asked them to stop and think of things they were thankful for. Just like I intended to do when I started my gratitude posts. It has been since December 30th that I posted a gratitude post and I certainly have a lot to be grateful for…a lot more than what I have stopped to think about to myself or to share with anyone else.  So, I commit to doing that more frequently – (maybe once a month?).

Anyway – for this Monday, I am grateful for this {100}cute little pup, Abbey, that’s laying her head on my lap as I edit photos.  She seriously has been so much fun to foster!!

I wonder – in what does your gratitude lie?

As I have been working on being more intentional of taking a moment to think about gratitude, I cannot ignore how {97}Life Writing Photography has blossomed this year because of the incredible {98}people you see in these photos . . . and {99}you, the people who come back here week after week to see them.  THANK YOU.  I am grateful for 2010 and am excited for what 2011 has in store.

tampa wedding photographer, thank you

As I was looking at my dashboard (the internal structure of a wordpress blog) this weekend, I realized that this is my 200th post.  It’s kind of crazy to think that in less than two years, I have had that much art and words to share with you.

I did not know what to post for the 200th post of something that started as www.janie.typepad.com and has become Life Writing Photography.  BUT – this teaser from Jazleen and Craig’s wedding sum up my feelings perfectly.

THANK {31} YOU!

Thank each of you for {32} reading my blog, {33} commenting on facebook and {34} here with {35} encouraging words of support.  Thank you clients, who have {36} entrusted me to capture images of the life that you are writing.  I feel very blessed by this {37} photography business and the {38} people I have shared {39) precious moments with because of it.  {40} YOU are why {41} Life Writing Photography exists.

Thanks!

And thanks for being patient with my week long hiatus.  I had four of {42} my friends from Davidson in and out of town from Thursday through Monday and I {43} barely touched my computer during their visit.

gratitude {9-30}

August 31, 2010

{9} This past weekend I was in Vermont (hence the {10} photo of Tyson, a boxer, sitting in his truck overlooking the purple mountains) with my grandmother, three aunts, uncle and mother (as well as several other people who attended {11}  Sandy and Ben’s wedding . . . wedding photos to come, but for now here’s the couple with their adorable son Eric on the night of their rehearsal):

What a beautiful state!  Yesterday my mother and I were driving back to the Manchester Airport (a three hour ride from Lyndonville, VT) and {12} had a lot of time to chat.  One thing we were talking about was trying not to complain as much about anything in our life and instead practicing being content.  Which made me start to think of things that I was grateful for . . . again.

So, here we go:

I am so thankful for {13} my Aunt Laura, {14} Aunt Carolyn and {15} mother, who are sisters and share many things in common, but are {16} so unique from one another.  I am thankful for my {17} Uncle Johnny and {18} Aunt Debbie, who {19} have a great marriage and love one another and others selflessly.  I am thankful for my {20} Grandmama, who {21} made me laugh a lot this weekend, even if it was because of misunderstandings between the two of us (or her and her daughters).  {22} I am thankful for the long weekend that I got to spend with each of them!

I am thankful for {23} laughing at this video with Kenzo when {24}I got home, {25} three times.  And then watching this one too.  And {26} laughed again.

I am thankful for my in-laws, {27} Mary and {28} Kaz who sent Kenzo home with {29} two adorable dresses and a cute sweater that they bought for me while in Japan this past summer.

{30} I have so many amazing people in my life . . . and I’m just getting started talking about them!
