“{Tampa,FL} – January 23, 2012 – WeddingWire, the nation’s leading wedding Marketplace, is excited to announce Life Writing Photography has been selected to receive the prestigious WeddingWire Bride’s Choice Awards™ 2012 for Photography!

The esteemed annual awards program recognizes the top local wedding vendors from the WeddingWire Network who demonstrate excellence in quality, service, responsiveness and professionalism within the wedding industry. While many industry awards are selected by the organization, Life Writing Photography was selected based on its stellar reviews from past newlywed clients.

Life Writing Photography is recognized as part of the top five percent of wedding professionals in the WeddingWire local vendor community, comprised of over 200,000 wedding professionals throughout the United States and Canada. The Bride’s Choice Award recognizes the best local wedding vendors across 20 service categories, from wedding venues to wedding photographers, based on their overall professional achievements throughout the past year.

“WeddingWire is thrilled to honor the success of the top-rated wedding professionals within the WeddingWire Community,” said Timothy Chi, CEO, WeddingWire. “Since the launch of the Bride’s Choice Awards™ program four years ago, thousands of outstanding wedding professionals have been recognized by the bridal community for their supreme service and dedication to the wedding industry. It is with great pleasure that we congratulate Life Writing Photography for their continued professionalism and commitment to enriching the wedding planning experience for engaged couples.”

We are happy to announce that Life Writing Photography is one of the very best Photographers within the WeddingWire Network, which includes leading wedding planning sites WeddingWire, Project Wedding, Brides.com, Martha Stewart Weddings, and Weddingbee. We would like to thank our past clients for taking the time to review our business on WeddingWire. Thanks to their positive feedback we were able to receive the WeddingWire Bride’s Choice Awards™ for 2012.

How are the winners determined?
The WeddingWire Bride’s Choice Awards ™ recognizes the top local wedding professionals from the WeddingWire Network that demonstrate excellence in quality, service, responsiveness and professionalism. Unlike other awards in which winners are selected by the organization, the WeddingWire Bride’s Choice Awards™ are awarded solely based on the reviews from over 1.2 million newlyweds. Awards are determined by a combination of four factors: Overall rating (quality), total number of reviews (quantity), review performance from 2011 (recency), and consistency of reviews from year to year (consistency). This year’s recipients represent the top 5% of WeddingWire’s vendor community, across all service categories and all regions throughout the US and Canada.”

I cannot look at their photos without replaying in my head, the song that Stephanie and Dave danced their first dance to – thus – you get to hear it too while seeing their photos and reading about their love story.  You can easily pause it below:

Agh, it was the most perfect of perfect days.  A little crisp outside – but still so beautiful – with a couple and wedding party willing to bare the cold for the sake of photos.  In true Life Writing Photography fashion, you are getting a TON of photos from their wedding – and even still, I feel like I am holding back.

.

Thanks to Stephanie – I know a lot about their love story . . .

.

Little did Stephanie know that while she was watching her brother play soccer for Morgantown High School, she was also watching her husband-to-be. She will tell you that she remembers his athleticism on the field. He will tell you that he remembers her, “Grant’s older sister,” in the bleachers, a little out of his realm. It wasn’t until almost 10 years later they would fall in love.

Stephanie and David both graduated from Morgantown High School, she in 1999 and he in 2001. They never bumped into each other in the hallways nor shared a class. Upon graduation, Stephanie attended West Virginia University while David committed what he calls, “the Morgantown sin” and headed to Virginia Tech to join the Hokie Nation with his good friend, and best man, Eric Dailey.

Stephanie graduated and began her career as a teacher at Bridgeport High School in 2003. While Stephanie was enjoying her first year of teaching, David was enjoying college life in Blacksburg, VA with Eric and groomsman Doug Banerjee.

After David graduated in 2006, he returned to Morgantown and began work for Petroplus and Associates.  At this point, David was getting back in the Morgantown lifestyle and Stephanie was still teaching at Bridgeport High School and also completing work on her doctorate degree at WVU. She had recently moved back to Morgantown after living in Bridgeport for a few years.

So here they were, Stephanie and David, as their professional careers were blossoming, back in Morgantown.

He can’t tell you why he did it, but one day, the magic of Facebook prompted David to send Stephanie a message to meet up for a drink with friends. And now, their love story unfolds.

At Sports Page on an odd Tuesday night, Stephanie sat waiting, and waiting. David was late. She had just about given up and was heading out the door when in came David with his friend, and groomsman, Todd King. If you know Stephanie, you also know her patience for this sort of thing is not plentiful. David had a strike against him already. But, that strike soon erased as conversation started, seamlessly and unlabored.

It was like they had known each other for years. Well, they had, but never really talked. David will tell you that Stephanie beamed as she explained her work and her love for her students. Stephanie describes David’s words about his work as passionate and encouraging. They both to this day love that they found someone else who is so happy, dedicated, and enthralled with their chosen careers.

.

Dancing soon ensued and before they knew it, it was 2:00 in the morning. As David walked Stephanie to her car, he asked with boyish charm, “May I kiss you?” She smiled and replied, “Nope, not until you take me on a real date.”  A couple weekends later, on February 24, 2009, David picked up Stephanie for their “first date.”

.

And the rest is history.  They got engaged on top of Mount Washington in Pittsburgh on a cold November evening 2010 and got married in Morgantown on a cool November day in 2011.

.

Enjoy wedding day photos of a couple who is very much in love with one another.

.

Stephanie and Dave decided to do a first look, which first of all, was so tenderly sweet to see his reaction to her and second, totally freed us up to get some awesome outdoor couple and wedding party photos:

(the ones of Stephanie dancing are some of my favorite images of the whole day – her dress is simply gorgeous).

The crew in front of Woodburn Hall – a landmark building on WVU’s campus.

(Yes, we stopped traffic on High Street).

If you’ve seen their {teaser}, you’ve seen the above right photo – but I had to re-share it as it was one of my favorites of the day.  Naturally sweet.

Their ceremony took place at Wesley United Methodist Church in downtown Morgantown, WV:

Wesley is a beautiful church but very orange!  So – I really liked the way that the black and white images from the sanctuary turned out.

Then we headed to their reception at the Waterfront Hotel.

Narrowing down the photos to display from their first dance was probably the hardest part of this post.  In all of the weddings that I have photographed, I have NEVER seen a better first dance.  Stephanie, an incredibly talented dancer, taught Dave the entire dance from Dirty Dancing and they performed the whole thing in front of their wedding party.

Amazing!!

These and lot’s more in their slideshow:

It was 11.11.11 – the only cold day of the entire week in beautiful West Virginia – when Stephanie and David became husband and wife.  Although it was practically freezing, we decided to make our way outside for their portraits – and the sun just happened to peak out of the clouds at the perfect minute beautifully backlighting this happy couple – almost as if it were pouring down its warm blessings on their new marriage.

{photography tip}: above the sun was in the photo.  the effect turns out to be a washed out photo with light apparently streaming in.  beautiful.  however, below you will notice that the sun was hidden behind the leaves, the effect turns out to be a golden outline of the subject.  also beautiful.  just depends on your preference -try it out on your next shoot.

Gorgeous.

Many more to come.

Chelsea and Greg

November 20, 2011

Chelsea and Greg started dating towards the end of her freshman and his senior year of high school.  Had you asked either of them if they thought they’d be getting married ten years later, they both would have told you no.  Their love is one that has lived through college and grad school, through long distance, hardships and highlights.  They are truly in love and simply loving in the way they treat one another.

Their beautiful, intimate destination wedding to the Great Harbour Cay in the Bahamas could not have been more special.  A small group of their closest friends and a handful of family members came down to the Caribbean to celebrate this new phase in their relationship – marriage.  Enjoy as you see the beauty that unfolded on the day of their wedding.

Frank was a little bored when everyone was getting ready – so he decided to take a nap!

We decided to do a first look – which, if you are getting married and open to doing it (some people want to wait until the bride appears at the end of the aisle and I totally get that) I could not recommend it more!  It is such an intimate time for the two to see one another for the first time all dressed up on their wedding day.  Below you can watch as their first look unfolds!

(They thought I had stopped photographing with this photo above – so cute!)

We then spent some time taking a few more photos of them before their ceremony – we had to strategically be in the only shade on the beach as it was still pretty bright out!

Check out these and many many more photos in their slideshow:

Congrats beautiful couple!!  Love you guys!

bahama mama {teaser}

November 15, 2011

Chelsea and Greg had a beautiful, intimate wedding in the Bahamas a little over six weeks ago.  Kenzo and I were lucky enough to be flown down there to capture the moments of their weekend.  As I have traveled to and from the Bahamas and the states, finished two clients albums and a master’s level course, they have patiently waited to see the beautiful images from their wedding.  WELL –  I am finishing up their edits – you can check back this weekend for their post.

In the meantime, I thought I would share this fun photo with you.

Love this fun edit-especially how Chelsea and Greg look, but while it is so pretty – I kind of think it robs the Bahamas of their beautiful color.

What do you think?
