wild and wonderful

January 12, 2012

I am ALL caught up on posting clients’ photo sessions.  If you are a photographer – you know what an A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. feeling this is.  Since I started my business, I don’t think I have ever been completely caught up like that.  Want to know the secret?  Move to a foreign country and reduce the amount of clients you’re working with!  Haha, no, while it has been great for us, I wouldn’t recommend it because it doesn’t really allow you to have an income.

Anyway, all of that is to say that I get to {play} here on the blog for a few posts (and I say few because I will be home in two weeks and am booked up with lots of fun shoots!)  But, in the next few posts, I’ll be sharing photos that I have taken in months past that I have never shared before.  I am starting with wild and wonderful West Virginia.  This past summer when I traveled to West Virginia to photograph Taran and Jamion’s wedding, members of my wonderful extended family came along with me.  We had an amazing time camping, white water rafting, relaxing, playing games and just being together.  While I took many many photos – these were some of my favorite “artistic” shots.  The beautiful bomb-shell you see is my cousin, Caitlin.  And the handsome lad is of course my husband, Kenzo.  Enjoy wild and wonderful West Virginia!

stripes and you

November 29, 2011

So, I am sure that you’re wondering what stripes have to do with you.  And honestly, the answer would be nothing, except for the fact that I wanted to write a post asking you, my readers, for some help . . . and I didn’t really have photos to go along with that post.  And these are some beautiful photos that I have not yet posted, so anyway, it all went together.

For the past two years I have featured a series called the 12 Posts of Christmas where twelve people each year have shared a post of their favorite sights, smells, sounds and songs of Christmas.  I’ve really enjoyed counting down the days to Christmas by reading about other people’s experiences and so, I ask YOU if you’d like to consider being one of the 12 this year.

Here is what I would (loosely) be looking for (but feel free to be creative and expand):

1 – In 3 to 4 sentences answer one of the following questions (or all):

~ When you think of Christmas, what are the sights, sounds, smells, tastes, and feelings that come to your mind?

~ What are your favorite Christmas traditions and/or memories?

~ What does Christmas mean to you?

2 – What is your favorite Christmas song (either of all time or one you’re enjoying this year)

3- Please include a photo!

If you are interested (and pretty, pretty please be interested), I’d LOVE to post your Christmas story!  Whether we’ve been friends for years or have never met, all Life Writing readers are invited to participate.  Just shoot me an email at janie@lifewritingphotography.com and let me know that you want to be one of the 12 and I will save you a post spot!  Then by December 12th, send me your little Christmas diddy and I will get it all ready to post.

Thanks so much and happy (almost) December!

Janie

fall back

November 6, 2011

Thursday we woke up to Spring in Cuzco and Friday afternoon we were in Fall in West Virginia.  What a different view!  The reason for our trip is to photograph Stephanie and Dave’s wedding on 11.11.11.  It is also a great excuse to hang out with Kenzo’s family and my parents and my brother Jeff who came up here from FL to visit.  Although the peak of fall colors has passed, it is still beautiful and we enjoyed walking in a fall wonderland yesterday afternoon.

PS…Kenzo and I have been keeping our Peru blog very up to date – so definitely check it out for more on our time there.

(Dad and I decided that Jeff is a better model than we are :) )

tampa bay with tootsie

April 19, 2011

As spring semester winds down, wedding season gears up and I find myself excited but already falling behind in edits.  I sit here today at Kenzo’s desk, (because mine is typically the couch, but I really need to just sit and work today) starting to sort through the thousands of pictures I have taken in the past few weeks…and it made me appreciate sunny Sundays, like the one on this post – where you just sneak out, with your love and enjoy the beauty of the bay around you.

So I share these photos of Kenzo and my little boat outing from two weeks ago – with our favorite girl – Tootsie.  Enjoy and look forward to eventually seeing the five engagement shoots, three individual shoots and two weddings that Life Writing will capture during the month of April.
